Happy Monday!

I've been singing this song all weekend, so I figured I'd share it with you so you can sing it too.

Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"His face was all hard planes.  The sort of face that started off handsome and gained character as it aged."
p.7 -Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

It's Monday! What Are YOU Reading?

This great meme is hosted by Sheila at
Book Journey”.
It’s a great way to start the week and
find out what other bloggers are reading.

I finished Sketchy Behavior by Erynn Mangum yesterday.  It was a cute YA read, although the ending seemed a bit trite.  Overall, it was good though, so if you want a quick read, you should put it on your list.

This week I've decided to go ahead and start reading Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich.  The first one was pretty good, so I figured I should go ahead and start reading the rest of the series.  (Although books 3-18 may have to wait for summer since I have a lot of other books I would like to read beforehand.) No, I still haven't seen the movie for the first book, but I was told by several people to wait until it comes out on DVD because it wasn't really that great.  Disappointing news for sure, so I may just wait and see.  What are you reading?

Random Eleven

Earlier this week I was tagged by Shea-Shea at Lessons in Life for the Random Eleven.  Incidentally, Shea-Shea is a teacher who has hilarious postings each Friday called File-Cabinet Friday AND she plans weddings in all of her "spare time." If you're getting married Shea-Shea is the one to contact-I've seen pictures of her work and it's fabulous! She's quite the wonder-woman and I have no idea how she does it all.  You can even follow her on Pinterest. (My newest addiction.)

Here are the "Rules" if you want to participate:

The Random Eleven

The Rules:
  • Post these rules
  • You must post 11 random things about yourself
  • Answer the questions set for you in their post
  • Tag 11 people (can't be the person who tagged you)
  • Create 11 new questions for the people you tag
  • Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them!

Eleven Random Things About Me

1.  I was almost born in a helicopter because I decided to show up in August rather than December.  Since there were no "preemie" hospitals in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the time, so they sent my mom in a helicopter to El Paso, Texas.  (I also think this is where my fear of falling from great heights stems from because I think I must have looked out and saw how far the ground was and decided that it was not a good idea to show up until we made it safely to the hospital.)

2.  My favorite food is fondue.  It's the best choice for me because I love cheese, chocolate, and bread equally.  (It also explains why I am no longer my svelte self of my teen years.)

3.  I had a Labrador retriever when I was younger, but it ripped the seat off of my tricycle and I've been scared of dogs ever since.  (Of course watching Cujo at a young age didn't help either.  Especially since I was sleeping in front of a huge glass window very similar to one he crashed through.)  Yes, I am definitely a cat person.

4.  I have given up many dreams in my life because I felt that I wasn't good enough.  It's only now that I realize I would have been awesome at most of them.  Unfortunately, it takes a lot of money to change my direction and focus--money that I do not have at this point.  (Boooooo!)

5.  Although you would never know it by looking at my apartment, I am really a neat freak.  I hate clutter and it drives me crazy when things are not in their proper places.  Part of that stems from my OCD, but about 10 years ago I decided I needed to "lighten up" a bit so I had to physically force myself not to clean.  Now I think I'm over it because my place is a disaster.

6.  If I had my choice, I would work from home in my PJ's because I'm a hermit at heart.  Better yet, I wouldn't have to work, but could sit around and read and do crafts all day.

7.  The longest I have ever lived in any place has been three  years.  I blame this on the fact that my parents were constantly moving around when I was younger (my dad was in the Air Force and kept taking different jobs) and now the wanderlust will not leave.  This is part of the reason why I will probably never buy a house--because then I can't leave when it's time to go.  It's also why I never truly feel settled because I'm always "looking" for the next place.

8.  I cannot type.  I've never learned how to type properly so it takes me twice as long to create things on the computer.  I also put my letters out of order because my brain moves faster than my fingers so I spend a lot of time correcting my spelling even though it just a result of the letters being out of order.

9.  I've had to overcome a lot of garbage in my life (hasn't everyone), but there are still parts of my life that I can't remember because I've blocked them out.  Every so often I get flashes of things and I can piece together part of the story, but there are still a lot of gaps.  This is part of the reason why I don't share much about myself with people.  (Of course this meme has caused me to think about a lot of things and has forced me to share with you.)

10.  I HATE driving.  If I could have a chauffeur I would be in heaven.  I'd even settle for being able to wiggle my nose and transport somewhere else.  Although I refuse to jump through a toilet to travel.  Fireplaces and brick walls would be okay.

And FINALLY...

11.  I LOVE the true classic movies.  I'm not talking Legally Blonde, because that movie is now considered to be a classic, but the true classic, sometimes black and white, movies.  I think this stems from when I was younger.  I would sneak upstairs into the living room when everyone else was asleep (usually after midnight) and turn the TV to AMC classics and watch the movies until I fell asleep. (Then, I would wake up when I heard my mom and sister stirring upstairs and sneak back down to my bedroom in the basement.)

I love the stories where the men woo the women and  everything turns out okay because true love always wins in the end.  (Yes, I'm a romantic at heart.)  I also loved the dancing and the musicals.  (If only all our lives could have a sound track playing as we go about our daily duties.)

Questions from Shea-Shea:

1.  What is your favorite book of all time?

Can "I don't know" be an answer?  I'm an avid reader and I like all kinds of books and genres.  As a Christian, my standard answer would have to be the Bible, although I've never read all the way through it.  If we're talking teen/YA books, I love Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers.  Reading the stories of the soldiers really stuck with me.  If we're talking chic-lit it would be Kissing Adrien by Siri Mitchell. It takes place in Paris (of course) and melted my heart.

2.  You are stranded on an island and can only bring 3 things.  What three things can you not live without?

Water, Sunscreen, and all of my TBR books in a very large bag.

3.  Are you a shoe person or a purse person?

Tough call.  I used to be a shoe person until I realized I had too many shoes for my lack of wardrobe, so now I'm a purse person.  My mom makes awesome purses and sells them so I'm kind of a walking advertisement for her.

4.  What do you order when you go to Starbucks?

I hate the taste of coffee, so it's usually a Chai Tea latte.

5.  If you could go back in time and give your younger self 1 important piece of advice, what would it be and why?

Stop listening to the voice in your head and your family.  They're clueless and most importantly WRONG.  You CAN do it.  You CAN make money/living from it, you're just ahead of time by about 10 years.  And most importantly, you CAN live a happy life doing it. So follow Nike and JUST DO IT!

6.  What is your guilty food indulgence?
Chocolate.

7.  What is your favorite candle scent?

I love vanilla scents or sugar cookie scents.  They're the only ones that haven't caused my migraines yet.

8.  Do you have a signature recipe or food item that people always ask you to make?  If so, what is it?

Family asks me to make my cheese lasagna during the holidays.  (Garfield would be jealous.)  Otherwise, I'm the snack or salad girl because I don't cook.

9.  Do you have any pets?  If so, names and types?  If not, have you ever had pets?
Yes, I have a beautiful Russian Blue cat named Madison aka Maddie (sometimes "bad girl").

10.  What is your favorite color?
Forest green.  I also adore orange and yellow because they're sunny colors and reflect me (when I'm not at work).

11.  What made you start blogging?

My friend in Texas, Kristy, told me I should start blogging.  I had no idea what she was talking about at the time because I only had dial-up so I didn't spend much time online.  When I moved back to Florida, I didn't have any friends and was bored, so I decided to "look into" blogging and have been doing it ever since.

I am tagging only a few people who may or may not play along.  Ready or not, here you go:

My Questions for You:

1.  Where is your favorite place in the world? Why?
2.  Tea or coffee and what kind?
3.  Who is your favorite author and why?
4.  If you watch television, what is your favorite show/series? If not, why do you not watch?
5.  Favorite flower or plant?
6.  Early-bird or Night Owl?
7.  Dream vacation?
8.  Secret for staying in shape?
9.  Favorite daydream?
10.  You've just been declared the "ruler of the world."  What's the first thing you do?
11.  What do you collect?

Feel free to play along!  If you have a blog, put your link to your posting in the comments section below.  If you're not a blogger, you can answer in the comments section too.  Happy typing!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

No, I'm not seeing anyone.  Yes, I'm still single.  No, there's no one in sight.  However, I do have a Valentine.  She's just a smaller bundle of joy with a bit of an attitude.  A  "cattitude" if you will.

Happy Valentine's Day Maddie!  I Love You!!

I've been reading a hodge-podge of books lately, but what I've really wanted to tackle are the books that have been sitting on my shelves forever.  You know the ones I'm talking about--that infamous TBR pile.  This time I've picked up Sketchy Behavior by Erynn Mangum.  I haven't started reading it yet, so I'll have to let you know about it later.

You Tube Thursday

I've been hearing this song more and more on the radio and I love the words.  This may be my next CD purchase...
