A Day in My Life...

Yesterday was probably the longest day of my life. I get up at 4am and leave the house a little before 6am to get to work by 7am. Then, I worked from 7am -7:30pm because we had conference night. Yippee. I had planned on leaving right after school to go grab something for dinner, but my cohort and I had to update the computers in the library so that the teachers could run some program they want to use on Monday. It literally took us 2 hours to update 10 computers. That's how long it's been since they have been updated. I thought I was going to die. Then, because these computers are now considered dinosaurs, half of the updates didn't take. I wanted to hit my head against the wall, but then decided that I was a bit delirious and went for the dark chocolate in the jar on my desk. Thankfully there were a couple of pieces left, so I split them with Mary and we decided to try and update 10 more computers in-between the parents that needed help and the administration that was walking through to make sure we hadn't died. Then, after all of that exciting stuff, I left and made it home with a couple minutes to spare before LOST started.

I must admit, I'm a little disappointed in this Season of LOST. Maybe it's because I was anticipating their rescue and the writers waited until the last couple minutes of the first episode this season to introduce the newest "rescuer," but I feel like they are dragging a bit. If they're having this much trouble now, how on earth is the momentum going to continue for another 6 years? Six years? Really? There's nothing like beating a dead horse, or polar bear in this instance. Just answer the questions, make the alarm clock ring, and let us get on with new writing. Or maybe that's the problem. Because the writers were on strike, maybe they had people fill in and the writing is just lousy. All I know is, I have a lot of questions and they are not getting answered, which is really starting to tick me off. Just rescue them already!

Today, I felt like a zombie. I'm so glad that we didn't have school because of Fair Day. If I had to get up at 4 am, I probably would have caused a car accident. Poor Madison had a vet appointment today. I am getting smarter about tricking her into the cat carrier, but as soon as she gets in, her wail could wake the dead. (It actually sent a couple of kids scurrying to find out what was wrong with her, which caused her to panic even more because she's scared of people.) Last weekend I pulled her carrier down and set it in the corner of the room with the door open. She's been very cautious all week, but let her guard down today. Then, when I saw she had gone out into the living room, I closed the bedroom door so she couldn't run under the bed and hide. (Score one for me!) She finally gave up and went into the carrier after I picked her up for the third time and tried to stuff her in there. The whole hour it took us to get to the vet she cried. Then, just as she was getting calmed down when we went inside, some stupid lady let her big lassie dog near the carrier and I had to pick it up so Madison didn't have a heart-attack at the big oaf breathing on her. Ugh! I HATE dogs! (So does Madison!)

When we finally got Madison all fixed up with her shots and we started her on a flea program so she doesn't get them when we move, we made it back to the car, only for Madison to start crying again for the next hour as we drove home. When we finally arrived, Madison hid behind some boxes and still has not let me come near her for fear that she might be back in the carrier--despite the fact it has been put away in its home in the laundry room.

I had planned on possibly getting some things packed this afternoon, but I (of course) found other things to do instead. I'm going to have to get serious tomoorw because the book cases are getting moved out this coming weekend, which means they have to be completely cleared. Have I mentioned how much I hate packing and unpacking? I keep telling myself that eventually I'll get things down to the bare bones as far as necessities are concerned, but it hasn't happened yet. My biggest game plan is to get things scrapbooked and into actual books this year. That would actually empty a bookcase and a half of items that I have just piled up and waiting to be scrapbooked. Unfortunately, my inspiration usually strikes when I have to get up early the next day, or when I don't have the right materials. Ack!

However, I plan to get some scrapbooking done during Spring Break. My only other thought is to go to Disney to have fun, but otherwise, I'm going to scrapbook and read. (Too bad it's still a month and a half away.) A girl can dream can't she?

I'd better get to bed if I plan on getting up in the morning. (I know--I MUST be getting old if I'm tired at 8:30 pm.) I have to keep to my sleeping schedule though--otherwise I won't be able to get up on Monday for work--and that would be a bad thing--especially since I'm teaching a few classes that day. (Another reason why I'm missing the fair this year.) That's okay with me though because I love my job and this way I won't be stick from all of the junk I would eat while I was there. (Although--if someone wants to pick up the lemon-verbena soap and the cinnamon soap from the soapmaker in Cracker Country for me, I would love you forever!) :)
