It's finally here...Spring Break!  After the year we've all had as teachers, I'm surprised they didn't take it away from us.  Needless to say, I've been using my time goofing off wisely.  I'll be out of town for a few days (going to St. Augustine), so Madison gets to hang out with grandpa in the evenings.  She's pretty excited because grandpa always shares some tuna with her.  I'll catch you when I get back.  Until then, enjoy Little Big Town's  "Boondocks"--brought to you by my friend You Tube.

I know you've probably seen this several times through other blog posts, but it makes me smile so I thought I'd share it with you.  Here are the Patty Cake Cats with a voice-over:

One is the loneliest number...

Have you ever been so stressed out that you couldn't even form coherent words or thoughts?  That's the way the past couple of weeks have been for me.  It's pretty scary when my students have learned how to interpret my hand-gestures and grunts to figure out what I'm trying to tell them.  (It's like charades every day.)

I thought things were getting better because my anxiety and stress were decreasing, and then my Principal dropped the bomb on me this week.  Due to budget cuts and a decreasing student population (we have 1837 students now), my secretary is being moved from the Media Center to the Guidance Office.  That means I have to run our HUMONGOUS library on my own.  Really? 



I guess I have a cape hidden somewhere on my person and that I embody some superhero power (at least that's what I'm telling myself) because our Guidance Office has 7 people in it that could feasibly rotate for an hour each day to cover their secretary position, and there's only me in the library. Really? 

So, tomorrow will be my first day trying to run the library without help.  Please pray for me because there are many things I have to re-learn how to do because my secretary always did them for me.  Please pray for my secretary because she doesn't exactly want to go to Guidance either--they're not the friendliest bunch.  And please pray for our students because ultimately they're the ones that are going to suffer as a result of this change.

And My Summer is Officially Over...

Maybe that's why I have the Imperial Death March song from Star Wars playing in my head.  In Darth Vader's voice, my job is saying..."Heather...(fuzzy static)...I AM your job....(more fuzzy static) you NEED me..."  Here it is, so you can enjoy too:

Bring the Rain

 Mercy Me is quite frankly one of my favorite Christian bands out there.  I first saw them in concert at Rock the Universe at Universal Studios, Orlando many moons ago and have been a fan ever since.  All of the albums that Mercy Me has produced have been phenomenal, but I must admit, I like Coming Up to Breathe the best so far.  Despite the fact that every song has a significant story, I found there to be a somewhat playful side to some of the lyrics and the music on this release. If you don't believe me, check out One Trick Pony and Writer's Block.  I also love the dedication to their wives with You're to Blame.   (They have another CD coming out soon called The Generous Mr. Lovewell, so I can't wait to hear what that's all about.)

Things have been going rather well for me the last couple of months and I've been concerned.  I know you're probably thinking I'm crazy to  have concerns when things are hunky-dory, but I do.  God usually has us going through a storm, just coming out of a storm, or just getting ready to go through a storm.  My concern is that I'm getting ready to go through a storm and I'm not sure from which direction it's going to come.  I know that I should stop worrying because God has everything under control, but that is easier said than done.   (I just wish He'd let me in on his plans so I could "ride the wave" a bit easier.  Maybe even give him a few tips on how I think thinmgs should go.  :)  Come on, I know I'm not the only one who has thought this...) 

What does this admisson have to do with Mercy Me, you ask?  Well, their song Bring the Rain has really hit home with me today and it's on their Coming Up To Breathe CD.  Yes, I've hit You Tube again and found the song to share with you.     Without further ado, here's the song Bring the Rain by Mercy Me. 


So, God, even though I have no idea what happens next, I know that You do, so, I guess I have to reluctantly say--Bring the Rain.  Thank you for being with me through the storm and for helping me "dry off" afterwards.

My New Favorite Song--There Will Be A Day by Jeremy Camp

Yes, I do tend to mention Jeremy Camp on here from time to time--especially since I love his music! A few weeks ago while on my way to work, I heard his newest release (now out in stores!!!) "There Will Be A Day" and I just wanted to weep for happiness because it reminded me that I have hope in the Lord despite the obstacles that I was facing at the time.

I think there are so many times that we/I get bogged down in the day to day gunk that I feel like there's no hope. But the Bible does remind us that--there WILL be a day where we will not cry anymore because we'll be by God's side! I for one can't wait for that to happen. I hope you enjoy the devotional!
